2002
Koenig & Consultants GbR is founded in Hamburg by Dr. Christine Koenig and Dr. Ingo Koenig. The firm quickly earns a reputation for delivering high-touch advisory services to top management in biotech, pharma, energy, and heavy industry.
2006
The Canadian entity, Koenig & Consultants Inc. (KCI), is launched in Toronto, bringing the firm’s expertise to North America. Christine leads the expansion into the renewable energy sector, adopting their German experience with community energy projects for Canadian market.
2006 - 2017
KCI becomes deeply embedded in Canada’s energy transition, advising co-operatives, municipalities, and industry players on regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable development strategies under Ontario’s Feed-In Tariff program. Notable projects include: Strategy and engagement leadership for Oxford Community Energy Co-op (recipient of OSEA’s Community Power Project of the Year, 2015) Solar feasibility studies for Toronto District School Board Workshops and training for Canadian German Chamber of Commerce, greenTbiz, and others.
2019 - 2025
Christine’s leadership in the European MedTech and innovation ecosystem continues through her role as CEO of SurgMark GmbH, as well as Board roles at Life Science Nord and EU research funding bodies. These experiences reinforce the firm’s capabilities in medtech, diagnostics, and global market entry strategy. Dr. Christine Koenig is a biochemist, serial entrepreneur, and seasoned consultant with more than 25 years of experience in the Life Sciences and Renewable Energy industries. Her career spans the founding and scaling of multiple ventures, including biotech firms mice & more GmbH and SurgMark GmbH, and the renewable energy cooperatives ZooShare and Oxford Community Energy Cooperatives. Christine combines scientific depth with entrepreneurial acuity, having secured millions in grant funding and investment, built cross-sector partnerships, and advised on public-private collaboration strategies. She has also served as a senior evaluator for the European Research Council (ERC) and as a facilitator at York University’s Schulich School of Business. Christine is passionate about advancing sustainability and economic prosperity, with a proven ability to galvanize stakeholders around a shared vision. She is committed to integrating environmental sustainability, human well-being, and business success to accelerate the transition to a modern, healthy, and net-zero future. She is known for her ability to navigate complexity, inspire innovation, and guide clients through transformation with empathy and integrity.
